The Matrix
Wake up Neo...What?...The Matrix has you...Follow the white rabbit.

Fact - 'you' were born a 'psychic self,' a body-less alien entity, into a psychic (dream) world called: The Matrix, and have been a prisoner in this world all your life. 'A bonded slave', as Morpheus so aptly puts it. If you don't, or can't, believe this, try not paying your taxes. (Click to listen to an explanation)
You may find our central claim, that what you always thought of as 'real' is in fact a psychic projection, incredible?
You will be even more astounded then to discover that you call 'me', is also a psychic projection, in other words, a delusion. If you think 'you' are actual you really are delusion.
Many metaphors in the film question the nature of 'me' and 'I', for instance: Choi: "Yeah, I know. This never happened. You don't exist". Neo: "Right". Second shocking fact, underlining the foregoing, "you" don't actually exist! The reason Neo had to leave 'Kansas' to reclaim his body.
Morpheus, throws doubt on what we call reality from the start; by quizzing Neo: "Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?"
Until we understand the meaning of the injunction 'Know Thyself,' and what our psyche really is and how it is so easily manipulated we are doomed to remain slaves in the dream world to serve the current parasitical system. It seems we are all living under some form of self-hypnosis? After all Morpheus, in Greek mythology, is one of the sons of Hypnos the god of sleep. He is the bringer of dreams to man.
It may be helpful if you didn't approach your investigations into the fantasy, we
believe to be 'reality', with an 'open mind', you may have tried that already and found it wanting, a healthy scepticism would be more advantageous.
It would also be beneficial if you delayed any final conclusions until you examine all the concepts proffered here: "There is a principle, which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance - that principle is contempt prior to investigation." - Herbert Spencer.
In the film, (we will eventually move away from deciphering the Matrix concepts, to discover a world beyond both the Matrix [dream-world] and what we believe to be the RealWorld [subjectively created world] - both illusory) when we first meet Neo, in his tawdry apartment, he is sleeping (non-conscious). That is until he receives a message psychically, demonstrating he is well and truly plugged into a parasitical psychic network (see pic) that keeps him in thrall to a system that uses up his one and only life for its own narcissistic ends.
The message confirms his deep-seated suspicions: "wake up Neo...The Matrix has you" shocked into a form of consciousness called lucid dreaming, he cries out: "what the hell?"." There are many references to Hell, the Underworld, and limbo (see pic below) throughout the film.
So what is, The Matrix? The Matrix is an irrational (silly) religious/politico 'Alice in Wonderland' world where everything is upside down: (Cue Alice..."Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary-wise-what it is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?")
Morpheus explains it; thus: "What is The Matrix? Control! The Matrix is a computer
generated dream world built to keep us under control in order to change a human being into this." (See pic.) Does this not sound like the parasitical, hierarchy (I coined the word pyramsitical to explain this system) that controls the system?
The Matrix is analogous to the Neo-Tech metaphor, 'the anticivilisation', explained as 'a politico religious system' that some believe is beyond redemption. If this is true all you have to do is kick-back, relax, and enjoy the ride.
As you continue reading you may find over time your beliefs, about the reality we live in, are challenged: Neo: after Morpheus shows him what the Matrix is: "No. I don't believe it. It's not possible"... "No. Stop. Let me out. Let me out. I want out".
If you find our central claim, that what you always thought of as the real world is in fact a psychic projection incredible. You will be even more astounded then to discover that you, your-'self', is also a physic projection, an illusion.
The Matrix (psychic-world) differs from the RealWorld in degree of consciousness or wakefulness only, as the real world is also an illusion. Having said that; a mind freed of mysticism can achieve incredible works, as you will discover in the RealWorld section.
In a nutshell: the Matrix is the world we experience when 'self' attempts to create reality [wishful thinking - subjectivity]. The RealWorld, is the what we experience while integrating reality [what is - objectivity]. What can then happen; is we may begin to discover what we really are.
This seems straight-forward enough, but for some reason most of us cannot, or will not, accept it, I hear the tut tut's already: Trinity: "the Matrix isn't real". Cypher: "I
disagree, I think the Matrix can be more real than this world." Even between the real world and the Matrix we have an intermediate stage called, in the film, Mobile Av. (an anagram for Limbo).
